FAQs

What kind of stuff can be dipped?

Metal, plastic, wood, glazed ceramic… anything rigid can really be dipped.

How durable is hydro dipping?

All of the materials we use are specifically designed to withstand Mother Nature; sun exposure, rain, wind, curious friends “just feeling what it feels like”.

How long is the process from start to finish?

This all depends on how busy we are and how complex of a job you ask us to do. If you want your phone case or Xbox controller dipped, we can usually do those in 2-3 days. If you want all the interior trim to your Jeep dipped (we’ve done it, check out the gallery) then it’ll probably take a while longer.

How scratch resistant is the final product?

We use automotive grade 2K clear coats on all our dips. At a minimum, everything gets 3 coats of clear, and the layers only go up from there. Anything automotive gets 4, firearms get 5. To put it into perspective, I just a read a post on a forum board from a guy who works at the Ford paint department: 1 coat of clear on a car.

Are some parts more difficult than others to dip?

Of course they are. Anything flat is pretty easy, and as you start adding curves and depth, it gets tougher.

Are there special care instructions?

Care instructions will be included with every order, but typically, we just tell you not to use acids or harsh chemicals to clean your dipped items. We’re big fans of Simple Green around here.
